This policy explains Polish Up’s voluntary warranty against defects for powered machines and provides general information about faulty-product claims.
Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
1. Australian Consumer Law rights
Products supplied by Polish Up come with automatic consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law where that law applies.
Depending on the circumstances, a customer may be entitled to a repair, replacement, refund, compensation or another remedy where a product:
- is faulty or unsafe
- is not of acceptable quality
- does not match its description
- is not fit for its normal purpose
- is not fit for a particular purpose disclosed to Polish Up before purchase
- does not match a sample or demonstration
- does not comply with an express promise made about it
These rights apply automatically and may continue beyond the period of any manufacturer’s or Polish Up warranty.
2. Mandatory Australian Consumer Law notice
Mandatory text for supply of goods
The mandatory text for the supply of goods is:
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

- to cancel your service contract with us; and
- to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value
You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
If the failure does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have problems with the service rectified in a reasonable time and, if this is not done, to cancel your contract and obtain a refund for the unused portion of the contract.

You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage from a failure in the goods or service.
3. Polish Up 12-month powered-machine warranty
In addition to rights available under the Australian Consumer Law, Polish Up provides a voluntary 12-month warranty against defects for powered machines purchased directly from Polish Up, unless a different warranty period is clearly stated on the relevant product page, invoice or warranty document.
The warranty period begins on the original date of purchase shown on the customer’s invoice, receipt or order confirmation.
The person making a warranty claim must provide reasonable proof that the product was purchased from Polish Up.
4. Products covered
The 12-month powered-machine warranty generally applies to powered equipment sold by Polish Up, including applicable:
- bench polishing machines
- variable-speed polishing machines
- pipe and handrail polishing machines
- burnishing and drum-sander machines
- barrel polishing machines
- powered sanding or polishing equipment
A product page, invoice or separate warranty document may specify different coverage where appropriate.
The warranty applies to defects in materials, manufacture or workmanship that appear during the applicable warranty period under normal and intended use.
5. What Polish Up will do
Where Polish Up confirms that a covered product has a defect covered by the voluntary warranty, Polish Up will provide one of the following remedies:
- repair the product
- replace the defective component
- replace the product with the same or a reasonably equivalent product
- provide another remedy agreed with the customer
- provide a refund where appropriate
The remedy available under the voluntary warranty will depend on the product, the nature of the defect, repairability, parts availability and other relevant circumstances.
This does not limit a customer’s right to choose a refund or replacement where the product has a major failure under the Australian Consumer Law.
6. How to make a warranty claim
Contact Polish Up before returning a product.
Warranty claims may be submitted to:
Email: info@polishup.com.au
Telephone: 1800 780 666
Postal address: Polish Up, 7/42 Lysaght Street, Coolum Beach QLD 4573
Please provide:
- your full name and contact details
- order number, invoice or other proof of purchase
- product name and model
- serial number, where applicable
- date the problem first appeared
- a clear description of the problem
- photographs or video where reasonably useful
- details of how the product was assembled and operated
- details of any wheels, accessories or attachments fitted
- details of any attempted repairs or modifications
Providing photographs or video may allow Polish Up to identify simple operating, assembly or compatibility issues without requiring the whole product to be returned.
7. Do not return a product without instructions
Please do not send a machine or other product back until Polish Up has issued return instructions.
The return instructions may specify:
- the correct return address
- the components that need to be returned
- packaging requirements
- the approved carrier or freight method
- information that must be included with the return
- whether collection will be arranged
Polish Up is not responsible for products sent to an incorrect address or returned using an unauthorised or unsuitable freight service, except to the extent that Polish Up is responsible under applicable law.
8. Assessment of warranty claims
Polish Up may reasonably inspect, test or arrange an assessment of a product before confirming whether the problem is covered.
An assessment may consider:
- the product’s age and condition
- the reported symptoms
- the way the product was assembled and operated
- the machine speed and operating load
- the wheels or accessories fitted
- the electrical supply used
- maintenance and cleaning
- evidence of impact, contamination, overheating or misuse
- alterations, dismantling or attempted repairs
An assessment does not remove or reduce any rights available under the Australian Consumer Law.
9. Expenses and return freight
Contact Polish Up before incurring return or transport expenses.
Where a claim is confirmed as valid under this warranty, Polish Up will bear reasonable and approved expenses associated with making the warranty claim, including appropriate return and redelivery costs.
Depending on the product and destination, Polish Up may:
- provide a prepaid return label
- arrange collection
- nominate an approved carrier
- reimburse reasonable approved freight costs
Customers should keep receipts for any return expenses approved by Polish Up.
If an assessment reasonably determines that the product is not defective, or that the problem resulted from an excluded cause, Polish Up will explain the outcome.
Before any assessment fee, return freight or redelivery charge is imposed, Polish Up will inform the customer of the proposed charge and seek agreement where required.
Nothing in this section limits a customer’s entitlement to recover reasonable transport costs where required under the Australian Consumer Law.
10. What is not covered by the voluntary warranty
The voluntary 12-month powered-machine warranty does not generally cover a problem to the extent that it was caused by:
- normal wear and tear
- misuse, abuse or unreasonable use
- incorrect assembly or installation
- operation contrary to instructions or warnings
- overloading or prolonged operation outside the product’s intended duty cycle
- use with an incorrect voltage, frequency or electrical supply
- use with unsuitable, damaged or incorrectly rated wheels or accessories
- exceeding the maximum rated speed of a wheel or accessory
- failure to maintain, clean or inspect the product
- contamination by polishing residue, liquids, chemicals, dust or foreign material where the product was not designed for that exposure
- accidental damage, impact, dropping, fire, water damage or other external causes
- unauthorised dismantling, modification or repair
- removal, alteration or defacing of a serial number or identification label
- continued operation after an abnormal noise, vibration, smell, overheating or fault became apparent
- use for an application for which the product was not designed or represented as suitable
An exclusion applies only to the extent that the excluded event caused or contributed to the reported problem.
These exclusions do not remove rights relating to another defect that was not caused by the excluded event.
11. Consumables and wear items
Polishing wheels, abrasives, sanding products, compounds, brushes, pads, belts and comparable consumables naturally wear during normal use.
Normal consumption or wear is not itself a defect.
However, consumable products remain covered by applicable Australian Consumer Law guarantees. For example, a remedy may still be available where a consumable product:
- was defective when supplied
- was unsafe
- did not match its description
- was not reasonably fit for its stated or disclosed purpose
12. Machine components subject to wear
Certain machine components may deteriorate through ordinary use, including applicable:
- carbon brushes
- drive belts
- switches subject to ordinary mechanical wear
- bearings
- seals
- chucks, spindles and attachment surfaces
Whether a component problem is normal wear or a defect will depend on factors including the product’s age, usage, maintenance, quality, price and the circumstances of the failure.
Polish Up will not automatically refuse a claim merely because a component is capable of wearing over time.
13. Commercial and workshop use
The warranty applies to normal intended use of the product, including commercial or workshop use where the product is promoted and sold as suitable for that purpose.
Where a product is expressly described as suitable only for DIY, occasional or light-duty use, operating it substantially beyond that stated application may affect coverage where the use caused the failure.
A customer purchasing for business use may also qualify as a consumer under the Australian Consumer Law, depending on the product, price and circumstances of the purchase.
14. Product compatibility
Customers must check that machines, spindles, wheels and accessories are compatible before operation.
Important compatibility considerations may include:
- spindle or arbor size
- wheel bore size
- wheel diameter and width
- maximum rated speed
- machine power and intended application
- thread direction and attachment method
- required guards, flanges, washers and adaptors
Contact Polish Up before use where compatibility is uncertain.
15. Safety requirements
Powered polishing equipment and rotating accessories can cause serious injury if incorrectly selected, assembled or operated.
Operators must:
- read and follow the machine and product instructions
- use suitable eye, respiratory, hearing and protective equipment
- use guards and safety equipment where supplied or required
- inspect wheels and accessories before use
- observe maximum rated speeds
- secure workpieces appropriately
- keep loose clothing, jewellery and hair away from rotating equipment
- stop using equipment that appears damaged or unsafe
- disconnect power before changing accessories or performing maintenance
A warranty claim may be refused to the extent that failure to follow a safety or operating instruction caused the product damage.
This does not affect a customer’s rights concerning an inherently unsafe or defective product.
16. Unauthorised repairs and modifications
Do not dismantle, modify or arrange repairs to a product before consulting Polish Up where a warranty claim may be required.
Unauthorised work does not automatically cancel all rights. However, Polish Up may decline responsibility to the extent that unauthorised repair, modification or dismantling caused or made the problem worse.
Electrical repairs must be performed by an appropriately qualified person where required by law.
17. Transport damage
Damage occurring during delivery should be reported to Polish Up promptly.
Please retain:
- the product
- all external and internal packaging
- the shipping label
- photographs of the parcel and damage
Transport damage is handled under the Polish Up Shipping and Delivery Policy and applicable Australian Consumer Law rights. It is not necessary for the customer to rely solely on the voluntary machine warranty.
18. Replacement products and repaired products
A replacement or repaired product continues to benefit from applicable Australian Consumer Law guarantees.
Any remaining voluntary warranty coverage will be explained when the repair or replacement is supplied.
Nothing in this section limits rights that continue for a reasonable period under the Australian Consumer Law.
19. Parts availability
Polish Up will make reasonable efforts to provide or source suitable replacement parts for supported machines.
Parts availability may be affected by:
- product age
- model changes
- manufacturer supply
- discontinuation
- international transport restrictions
Where an appropriate repair is not reasonably available, Polish Up will consider another remedy according to the voluntary warranty and applicable Australian Consumer Law requirements.
20. International warranty claims
International customers must contact Polish Up before returning a product.
International warranty claims may require additional photographs, video, technical information or local assessment before international return freight is authorised.
Polish Up will consider reasonable warranty-claim expenses in accordance with this policy, the circumstances of the sale and any mandatory law that applies.
Customers remain responsible for checking local voltage, electrical, certification and product requirements before purchasing unless Polish Up expressly agreed that the product was suitable for those requirements.
21. Relationship with other Polish Up policies
This Warranty and Faulty Product Information should be read with:
- the Returns, Refunds and Consumer Guarantees Policy
- the Shipping and Delivery Policy
- the Website Terms and Conditions of Sale
- the Privacy and Cookies Policy
If there is an inconsistency, mandatory rights under applicable law take priority.
