Convert a Bench Grinder or Buy a Bench Polisher?
A converted bench grinder and a purpose-built bench polisher can both produce good results when the machine, adaptors, wheels and compounds are correctly matched. The right route depends on what you already own, the size and frequency of your work, and how much capacity you want for future projects.
Convert a suitable bench grinder
If you already own a compatible grinder, conversion can be an economical way to start. Confirm the shaft diameter, left- and right-hand thread direction, wheel clearance, machine speed and the rated size and speed of every wheel before use.
Choose a dedicated bench polisher
A dedicated polisher provides a ready-made polishing base and simplifies matching the machine to polishing wheels. Choose 550W, 750W or 1500W according to component size, frequency of use and the wheel capacity specified for the package.
