Popular Polishing Wheel Types
Airflow / Coolair Wheels
Designed to circulate air and help minimise heat build-up while polishing. A strong choice for alloy and surfaces where cooler polishing temperatures matter.
Treated & Natural Sisal Wheels
Treated sisal delivers heavier cut for deeper abrasive prep, while natural sisal is useful for lighter prep and surface refinement before later polishing stages.
Colour Stitch & White Stitch Wheels
Great middle-stage wheels for brightening and smoothing. Colour stitch offers moderate cleaning and brightening, while white stitch gives a smoother finish with less cut.
Loose Leaf & Swansdown Wheels
Ideal for high-finish work. Loose leaf calico helps create strong brightness, while Swansdown wheels are ultra-soft and well suited to final mirror finishing.
Mounted & Specialty Wheels
Includes cylinders, goblets, domes and felt polishing bits for intricate shapes, internal sections and confined polishing areas.
Typical Polishing Workflow
1. Cutting & Prep
Start with treated sisal or airflow wheels and a heavier-cut compound to remove oxidation, scratches and prep marks.
2. Brightening
Move to colour stitch or white stitch wheels to refine the surface and improve brightness before final finishing.
3. Final Finish
Use loose leaf or swansdown wheels with finer compounds to create a cleaner, higher gloss mirror-like finish.
4. Detail Work
Use felt, goblet, cylinder or drill-mounted accessories where larger wheels cannot comfortably reach.
