178mm Natural Airflow Finishing Wheel – Double Section, 16-Fold uses a ventilated pleated-cloth construction that increases airflow through the working face and helps manage heat during sustained polishing. The double-section format adds working width and support for balanced general-purpose coverage.
Polishing role and applications
The natural cloth is intended for refining, colouring and final-lustre work after abrasive preparation and cutting marks have been removed. Use on compatible steel, stainless steel, aluminium, brass, copper and other suitable metals.
Compound and polishing sequence
- Pair with a fine colouring or finishing compound; complete cutting and refining stages first.
- Apply compound sparingly and recharge in small amounts.
- Keep each wheel dedicated to one compound and compatible metal group.
- If scratches remain, return to the appropriate abrasive or cutting stage instead of increasing pressure.
Specifications
- Wheel family: Airflow / airway polishing wheel
- Diameter: 178mm (7 inch)
- Construction: Double section, 16 folds per section
- Cloth: Natural for finishing
- Primary stage: Refining, colouring and final lustre
- Supply: One wheel
Single-section wheels give the narrowest face and best access. Double-section wheels balance access with working width. Triple-section wheels provide the broadest supported face for larger open areas. Select treated cloth for cutting and natural cloth for finishing, and dedicate every wheel to one compound and metal group.
Machine and mounting compatibility
Use only on a compatible polishing machine with the correct bore, spindle, centre plate, flanges, adaptor, guards and retaining hardware. Confirm shaft length, rotation, clearance and the manufacturer’s maximum permitted wheel diameter and speed. Never exceed the rated speed of the wheel or machine.
How to use
- Isolate the machine and inspect the wheel and mounting components.
- Mount securely, then run briefly without load while standing clear of the rotation plane.
- Charge the face lightly with the selected compound.
- Use controlled pressure and continuous movement to manage heat and produce an even result.
- Rake or dress the face when loaded and stop if vibration, damage or abnormal noise develops.
Safety
Wear suitable eye and face protection, hearing protection and respiratory protection where required. Secure small workpieces, use close-fitting clothing, tie back hair, remove jewellery and keep snagging items away from the rotating wheel. Follow all wheel, compound and machine instructions.
