Sisal Goblet Polishing Wheel – 50mm, 6mm Mandrel is a drill-mounted shaped wheel for working on internal and irregular surfaces. Its goblet profile reaches into bowls, cups, concave panels and shaped recesses while presenting the polishing face to the internal curve. The sisal construction provides a firm, aggressive face for cutting and pre-polishing with an appropriate coarse or medium compound. It is not intended as the final colouring wheel.
Polishing role and applications
Use for initial cutting, reduction of light preparation marks and pre-polishing on compatible steel, stainless steel, aluminium, brass, copper and other suitable metals. Always select a compound that is appropriate for the material and desired finish.
Shape selection
- Cylinder: straight-sided contact for bores, tubes, channels and internal walls.
- Dome: rounded contact for recesses, curves and irregular contours.
- Goblet: flared contact for bowls, cups and concave forms.
Compound and process guidance
- Pair with a suitable cutting or medium compound; follow with a cotton shaped wheel and finer compound for brightness.
- Apply compound sparingly and recharge in small amounts.
- Use a separate wheel for each compound and metal group to prevent cross-contamination.
- Test delicate, plated or heat-sensitive surfaces in an inconspicuous area.

Tool compatibility
The 6mm mandrel is intended for a compatible drill chuck or suitable rotary tool capable of securely accepting a 6mm shank. Confirm the tool manufacturer’s speed guidance, chuck engagement, available clearance and suitability for polishing. Do not use an adaptor or chuck that cannot hold the mandrel concentrically and securely.
How to use
- Switch off and isolate the tool, inspect the wheel and mandrel, and clamp the shank securely in the chuck.
- Run briefly without load and check for concentric rotation, vibration or damage.
- Apply a small amount of the selected compound to the rotating face.
- Use moderate speed, light pressure and continuous movement; allow the shape of the wheel to follow the work without forcing it.
- Control heat, clean or dress the face when loaded, and stop if the mandrel slips or the wheel becomes damaged.
Safety
Wear suitable eye and face protection and respiratory protection where required. Secure the workpiece, keep hands clear of the rotating wheel, tie back hair, remove jewellery and avoid loose clothing or snagging gloves. Never exceed the wheel or tool speed rating.
