Polishing role and applications
Use after appropriate abrasive preparation or a more aggressive sisal stage, depending on the starting surface. Suitable applications may include aluminium, brass, copper, stainless steel, mild steel and other compatible metals when used with a compound selected for the material.
Compound and sequence guidance
- Pair with an appropriate cutting or medium refining compound.
- For deeper marks, complete the abrasive or sisal stage first rather than applying excessive pressure.
- Follow with a loose-leaf calico, natural Airflow or swansdown wheel and finer compound for maximum lustre.
- Dedicate the wheel to one compound and compatible metal group.

Single-section wheels improve access; two-section wheels add working width and support. Square-face versions present a more defined edge and broad face for controlled contact, while standard stitched wheels suit general-purpose refining. Confirm the machine, centre and speed before ordering.

How to use
- Isolate the machine, inspect the wheel and mount it securely.
- Run briefly without load while standing clear of the rotation plane.
- Charge lightly with the selected compound.
- Use controlled pressure and continuous movement to manage heat and maintain an even finish.
- Rake the face when loaded and stop if vibration, damage or abnormal noise develops.
Safety
Wear suitable eye and face protection, hearing protection and respiratory protection where required. Secure small parts, wear close-fitting clothing, tie back hair, remove jewellery and keep snagging items away from the rotating wheel.
