Sisal Cutting & Polishing Wheel – 250mm (10″), Single Section is a workshop cutting wheel for removing or reducing grinding marks and preparing metal for subsequent polishing stages. Its natural sisal construction provides a hard, fast-cutting face for first-stage preparation. The single-section format offers a narrower working face for controlled contact and access.
Cutting role and suitable applications
Designed primarily for heavy cutting and pre-polishing rather than final colouring. Use on compatible steel, stainless steel, aluminium, brass, copper and suitable non-ferrous metals with an appropriate cutting compound.
Recommended compound and polishing sequence
- Pair with an appropriate coarse cutting or stainless-steel cutting compound.
- Apply compound sparingly and recharge in small amounts.
- Follow with a stitched or loose-leaf calico wheel and finer compound for refinement.
- Dedicate the wheel to one compound and metal group.
Specifications
- Type: Sisal cutting and polishing wheel
- Diameter: 250mm (10″)
- Construction: Sisal, single section
- Primary stage: Heavy cutting and pre-polishing
- Supply: One wheel
Smaller wheels improve access; larger wheels increase surface speed and coverage on a compatible machine. A single section provides a narrower working face, while two sections add width and support. Treated sisal presents a firmer, more aggressive face. Always confirm centre fit, spindle arrangement, guards and rated speed.
Machine compatibility
Fit only to a compatible bench polisher, converted bench grinder or polishing machine with the correct centre, spindle, adaptor, guards and retaining system. Confirm clearances and rated speed before use.
How to use
- Inspect and mount with the machine isolated.
- Run briefly without load while standing clear.
- Charge lightly with cutting compound.
- Use controlled pressure and continuous movement to manage heat.
- Dress when loaded and stop if vibration or damage develops.
Safety
Use suitable eye, face, hearing and respiratory protection. Wear close-fitting clothing, secure long hair, remove jewellery and keep loose gloves away from rotating machinery. Secure small parts appropriately.
