200mm Coarse-Treated Airflow Cutting Wheel – Single Section is a purpose-matched wheel for coarse cutting and first-stage refinement.
This wheel occupies the coarse cutting and first-stage refinement stage of the 200mm Airflow system. The ventilated folded construction moves air through the face to help manage heat during sustained polishing while providing consistent contact across suitable metal surfaces.
Applications and polishing role
Suitable for compatible aluminium, brass, copper, stainless steel, mild steel and other metals when used at the correct stage. Always test plated, delicate or heat-sensitive surfaces first and choose the process according to the starting condition.
Compound and process guidance
- Pair with a suitable cutting compound selected for the metal.
- Apply compound sparingly and recharge in small amounts.
- Use one wheel per compound and compatible metal group.
- Progress to the next softer wheel when the current stage has produced an even surface.
Specifications
- Diameter: 200mm
- Construction: Single section
- Material: Coarse-treated folded cloth
- Working width: Approximately 13–18mm
- Centre hole: 16mm
- Primary stage: Coarse cutting and first-stage refinement
- Supply: One wheel
Use maroon non-woven for satin preparation, hard or coarse treated cloth for cutting, medium treated cloth for refinement, natural calico for fine finishing and swansdown for the final lustre. Do not skip preparation stages when visible scratches remain. Dedicate each cloth wheel to one compound and metal group.
Machine and mounting compatibility
Use only on a compatible polisher, sander, barrel polisher or bench-polishing machine fitted with the correct centre plates, flanges, spindle and guards. Confirm centre size, shaft length, rotation, clearances and maximum permitted wheel speed before use. The 16mm-centre cloth wheels must be retained with suitable Airflow safety flanges.
How to use
- Isolate the machine and inspect the wheel and all mounting components.
- Mount securely and run briefly without load while standing clear of the rotation plane.
- Charge lightly with the selected compound.
- Keep the work moving and inspect frequently to control heat and maintain an even result.
- Stop if vibration, damage or abnormal noise develops; dress cloth wheels when residue builds up.
Safety
Wear appropriate eye and face protection, hearing protection and respiratory protection where required. Secure small workpieces, use close-fitting clothing, tie back hair, remove jewellery and keep snagging items away from the rotating wheel. Follow all machine and wheel instructions.
