Maroon Satin Non-Woven Airway Wheel – 250mm is a large-diameter wheel for satin preparation and blending. The abrasive non-woven construction blends preparation lines, refines hazy surfaces and produces an even satin grain before brighter polishing stages.
Applications and polishing role
Use on compatible aluminium, brass, copper, stainless steel, mild steel and other suitable metals at the correct stage. The resulting satin finish is approximately comparable with P320–P400, though material, speed, pressure and preparation affect the result.
Compound and process guidance
- Normally used as an abrasive blending stage rather than charged with bar compound.
- Follow with treated or natural Airflow wheels when a brighter finish is required.
- Maintain consistent direction and pressure for an even decorative grain.
Specifications
- Diameter: 250mm
- Construction: Single section
- Material: Maroon non-woven abrasive
- Centre hole: Confirm before ordering
- Primary stage: Satin preparation and blending
- Supply: One wheel
Use maroon non-woven for satin preparation, hard or coarse treated cloth for cutting, medium treated cloth for refinement and natural calico for fine finishing. The larger diameter increases coverage and surface speed, so confirm the machine is designed for a 250mm wheel. Dedicate every cloth wheel to one compound and metal group.
Machine and mounting compatibility
Use only on a machine specifically capable of safely operating a 250mm wheel with the correct spindle, centre plates, safety flanges, guards and clearances. Confirm centre size, shaft length, rotation and maximum permitted speed. The 16mm-centre cloth wheels require suitable Airflow safety flanges.
How to use
- Isolate the machine and inspect the wheel and mounting components.
- Mount securely and run briefly without load while standing clear.
- Use light, even pressure and maintain the desired grain direction.
- Keep the work moving and inspect frequently to control heat and maintain an even result.
- Stop if vibration, damage or abnormal noise develops; dress cloth wheels when loaded.
Safety
Wear appropriate eye and face protection, hearing protection and respiratory protection where required. Secure small workpieces, use close-fitting clothing, tie back hair, remove jewellery and keep snagging items away from the rotating wheel.
