Fastcut Cutting Compound – 250g
Fastcut is a fast economical first-stage cutter for hard metals and general metal-polishing work. It is designed to address rough surfaces, scratches and orange peel with less emphasis on immediate lustre before the next polishing stage.
Where this compound fits
This is a solid bar compound for powered metal polishing. Use it when the surface condition and target finish match its stated cutting role. It is not a substitute for sanding where deep damage remains: level deeper scratches progressively first, then begin polishing once the sanding pattern is even.
Suitable metals and applications
Recommended for hard metals and general metal-polishing work. Typical work includes workshop fabrications, automotive and truck brightwork, alloy components, decorative metalwork and restoration jobs. Always test a discreet area when the alloy, plating or previous coating is uncertain.
Wheel and stage selection
Pair it with a sisal or other firm cutting wheel. Charge the wheel lightly and often; excess compound creates heat and loading without improving the finish. Keep one wheel dedicated to each compound so coarse residue cannot contaminate later stages.
Recommended progression: follow with a colouring or finishing compound on a separate clean wheel. Clean the workpiece between stages and use a clean wheel for every change of compound.
How to use
- Prepare the metal until deep defects and coatings are removed.
- Confirm the wheel, machine speed and compound are suitable for the material.
- Run the wheel and touch the bar to it briefly to apply a light charge.
- Present the work securely and polish with controlled passes without dwelling in one spot.
- Reapply sparingly as the cutting action falls away, then clean and inspect before moving to the next stage.

Safety
Wear eye and face, hearing and respiratory protection appropriate to the machine and residue produced. Use effective dust extraction or ventilation. Secure small workpieces, wear close-fitting clothing, tie back hair and keep jewellery and loose items away from rotating equipment. Inspect the wheel and mounting hardware before use, stay within the wheel and machine speed ratings, and stop if vibration, damage or abnormal noise develops.
