Why This Rake Is Useful

Removes compound build-up

When too much polishing compound loads into the buffing wheel, the buff can harden and lose effectiveness. This rake helps remove that excess build-up.

Refreshes the buff edge

Designed to tidy and soften the edge of an airway buffing wheel while it is in motion, helping restore polishing performance.

Helps maintain finish quality

A loaded buff can reduce the quality of finish it produces. Raking at the right time helps keep the wheel working more effectively.

Simple workshop essential

A practical accessory for metal polishers using airway buffs on pedestal or right-angle machines.

How To Use A Buffing Wheel Rake

Keep the buffing wheel running at its normal rotation speed.
Hold the rake firmly as it approaches the moving buff.
Use caution while raking and maintain a stable position.
Bring the machine and buff to the rake to help remove compound build-up and soften the buff edge.
Reapply a small amount of compound once the wheel has been cleaned.

When To Rake Your Buff

Excessive metal polishing compound on the buffing wheel can cause the wheel to harden and compound to stick to the edge. That reduces polishing effectiveness and finish quality.

If you notice a strong increase in residue or aluminium particle build-up while buffing, it is a sign the buff should be raked and only a small amount of compound reapplied.

Ideal For

Airway buffing wheels

Compound build-up removal

Pedestal machine polishing

Right-angle polishing setups
