Polish Up Referrals & Word Of Mouth

We’d like to extend our warmest thanks and gratitude to all of you referring us to friends and associates alike.  Our business thrives on this word of mouth as it fulfills our objective of providing the most efficient, honest and considerate service to you, our valued customers.

Our intention, primarily, is to be very competitively priced in comparison to our opposition. As an example if you walk into a hardware anywhere and compare our prices with theirs, without question you will see an impressive chasm in price difference.  We of course are the winners and how, may you ask, is www.polish-up.com.au able to achieve this.

The answer: A very stream lined supply chain from our manufacturers to us, a low overhead premises being internet based, a small number of staff.

In keeping with our promise to you, we would like to give a 10% discount until the end of October 2010 to anyone who refers us.

If you do refer someone to www.polish-up.com.au, inform them to use REFERRAL as the coupon code to receive the discount when they purchase from the store.

We look forward to your continued support. Thanks

Polish Up Spring Has Sprung

With a remarkably good start to the spring season, Polish Up is experiencing exceptional growth in polishing kit sales. Due to our competitively priced, well placed products our customers, thankfully, are coming back for more.

Thanks to the increased product range, which by the way is growing continually, it seems to be providing that element of variety lacking in the current market.

Our alloy wheel kits head the field followed by our multi purpose variable speed grinder and drill polishing kits.  Following with a very close third are the bench grinder kits.  We can put this down to the warm spring weather (we assume this) as more enthusiasts come out of the woodwork and hibernation, cleaning up those bikes, trucks and cars.

A few of you have asked for more specific kits to be placed on the site and as promised, we have a few kits you’re going to love.

Our jewelery kits will also be coming on line and as some of you may have noticed we now have swansdown mops from 2″ up to 8″.  For the finer things in life.

Polish Up is also going to be rolling out comprehensive bench grinders kits where it will be a one stop shop.  We’ll also have drill kits complete with their kits.  At a later stage variable speed angle grinders and polishers will be on show and we’ll have a selection of polishing buffs to go with them.

So all is bright eyed and bushy tailed.  We look forward to a terrific spring season and an even more wonderful summer.

Here’s what is exciting about sharing ideas with others: If you share a new idea with ten people, they get to hear it once and you get to hear it ten times. Jim Rohn

Have a great week from Polish Up

Polish Up On Your Mops.

There is a huge selection of polishing mops or wheels that we could discuss, but today this blog is going to be about sisal, colour stitch, white stitch, loose flat cotton and swansdown.

First of all explaining the dimensions as sold by Polish Up:

Ex: 4″ x 1″ (2 section) polishing mop

4″ or 100mm is the diameter of the mop. The common diameters we sell are 2″, 3″, 4″, 6″ and 8″. We can supply larger sizes on request.

1″ (2 section) is the thickness.  A section is approximately 12.7mm. The more sections the thicker the mop. In this case 2 sections making an inch. 1 section would be 1/2″.

Explaining some of the different types of mops:

Sisal Mop – consisting of cloth layers and sisal layers stitched together to the desired thickness, these buffs are suitable for the preparation of polishing surfaces with excellent cutting power when used together with a suitable  compound.

Colour Stitch and White Stitch Mops – Versatile grades of polishing mop, similar to each other. The white stitch is slightly softer than the colour stitch. Good for a polishing operation where you need brightness back when the condition of the metal is not marked/scratched or badly pitted. These can be used to cut as well with a compound but are less aggressive than sisal.

“B” Mops – Are a very popular grade of finsihing mop. with 100% cotton discs these are a harder grade of loose mops commonly used as an alternative to white stitch mops and very popular for precious metals and final polishings to various metals.

Swansdown WDR Mops – A very soft grade of finishing mop. WDR means “white double raised” and these mops are also know as Swansdown mops. Generally used for soft precious metals, jewelery etc in the final finish.

An ideal set of polishing mops would consist of one of each especially the sisal, stitch and “B” mops.

Depending on what metal you are polishing, a compound combination would be the next step in your polishing kit choice – but that will be in another blog coming soon.

I hope you’ve found this informative, have a good week – www.polish-up.com.au

Polish Up sells on Ebay

With the challenges we face these days in maintaining a name and getting it  out there, Polish Up is now selling polishing mops and compounds on ebay.  With some wonderful technology, we’re able to upload our products directly to our ebay polish-up shop.  Our customers can expect the same level of support.

As with the website, our product range will continually grow, eventually encompassing a substantial range of polishing kits and products for you to select from.

Our objective is to be The One Stop Polish Up Shop. From a pricing perspective we would like your feedback. We don’t want to be beaten on price so do tell us if you find the product cheaper and we’ll beat it by 10%.

We look forward to hearing from you. All the best – www.polish-up.com.au

Polish Up’s development and growth.

Taking into context how broad the polishing industry is, the enormous variety of cleaning – polishing products in the market place and how many different applications there are, we at Polish Up are excitedly looking to the future.

We know from experience that price, quality, customer service go hand in hand and contributes to our customer satisfaction.  (Loads of cliche’s sorry) Polish Up continually sources products both locally and abroad to give you that choice whilst not breaking your bank account. One of the main reason we remain internet based is to keep our overheads down.

You’ll notice the website has rather a small selection of kits and mops.  Over the next few weeks and months the range will be growing substantially. For example 3″, 4″, 6″ and 8″ mops, sisal, stitch, loose flap, swansdown all will be up and ready for sale.  We’re adding a number of accessories like 1/2″ and 5/8″ bench grinder spindle adapters, a larger tapered mandrel (Drill adapter to mount a mop on).  We’ll also have a selection of polishing kits with bench grinders to go.

Moving forward, we ask you to bear with us, help us grow, give us feedback on ways we can improve our website.  Give us ideas of new products that you feel would complement our range.  We’ll take it all on board and do our best to implement what we can.

Thanks for your support.  www.polish-up.com.au

Polish up on your networking

In todays world of cold calling, hard sell, door to door sales, website banners that interfere and irritate the living daylights out of us, it’s no wonder we find ourselves becoming a lot less tolerant with the whole selling concept, never mind being sold to.

It’s within this myriad of sales people rejections that some of us, if not most of  us depend on sales to keep us “alive”.  Being a business owner or working for someone, within each and every business/company there’s highly likely to be some form of selling. It’s what pays the bills.

Over the years I’ve personally found networking to be one of the most effective marketing tools around.  But it does take some effort – anything worth something is never easy to get – and taking that first step is usually the most challenging part of the whole process.

It’s so much easier being referred to someone as opposed to cold calling them.

Steps to take:

Look on the internet for a business network you can visit. (do some research as there is often a monthly/annual charge)

Arrange a visit and go, go prepared

Take lots of business cards and more importantly take a prepared 60 second spiel about your company as it’s highly likely you need to tell the group about your company and what you do. Within your 60 seconds after explaining who you are, what you do, tell the group what specific referrals are ideal for you, just a couple though, you don’t want to overload them.

Often you will be given a referral relating to your request, but if not, don’t be disheartened. Networking is about building up trust,  business relationships and friendships. It’s a process that needs to be “farmed” to be effective.

Your responsibility as an effective networker is to be consistent, reliable, trustworthy, helpful and mindful of other peoples needs within the group and out there in the business world.  Armed with this, your ears will prick up every time there may be an opportunity to create a referral – someone needs something, a loan, business coaching, car repaired etc – depending on the needs of your group.

In giving, you’ll gain, Someone once said “if you give everyone what they want, you can have anything you want”.

Polish Up won’t be cold calling you but we will be networking with you.  Take a look at our polishing products and refer us. Have a good week.

Distinguishing between ferrous and non ferrous metals.

Knowing what metal you are polishing will help you choose which mopscompounds and polishing kits to use. Herewith some clarification.
All metals can be classified as either being Ferrous or Non-ferrous.

Ferrous metals contain iron and sometimes have small amounts of other metals or other elements added to give a required property. They are magnetic and give little resistance to corrosion. These metals are Mild Steel, high speed steel, stainless steels, high tensile steels, high carbon steels, medium caron steels and cast iron.

Non ferrous metals do not contain any iron, are not magnetic and are generally more resistant to corrosion than ferrous metals. Aluminium, Aluminium alloys, copper, brass, lead, zinc, tin and gilding metal.

A pure metal consists of a single element or atom type. Common pure metals are:-aluminium, copper, iron, lead, zinc, tin, silver and gold.

Alloys are a mixture of two or more metals. For example, pure white aluminium is very soft and ductile. Other elements are added to create an aluminium alloy. The aluminium alloy is stronger than Mild Steel, has an improved strength and is resistant to corrosion while still remaining very light.

And there you go. I hope this helps. www.polish-up.com.au
